Throughout my experience in Hasbara Fellowships Canada’s High School Internship program, I have learned many things and met some great people. My experience started at the beginning of the year when I got accepted into being part of the program. After getting accepted, there was a Sunday where we spent about 4 hours training with the rest of the Interns. During the first two hours, we met the people who started Hasbara, their partners and we also learned a lot about the history of Israel, its establishment, and different problems along the way.
The second two hours were more focused on how to start a club or program geared towards Israel advocacy. Also, each Intern was given 5 activities to complete throughout the months involving different aspects of Israel advocacy.
I enjoyed the Internship experience a lot. A friend, who is part of Hasbara, and I started a club together promoting Israel advocacy in our school. Every Thursday we brought in speakers to talk about Israel, and to answer any questions anyone had.
Over the past few months, I have learned a lot. I met some important people and got all my questions answered. In addition, once in a while, there would be an educational seminar (five in total). Through these webinars, I heard from amazing, incredible speakers and learned a lot about what they had to say about Israel.
As I look back at what I have achieved and the experiences I’ve had through this Internship, I feel very accomplished. This is because of the people I met, the things I learned, and the cool experiences that I went through. Israel is our homeland and we deserve to proudly stand up for it.
