Hasbara Fellowships Canada congratulates students at the University of British Columbia for rejecting another attempt by anti-Israel activists to pass a Boycott Divestment Sanctions (BDS) vote on their campus.
In a growing pattern of failure on Canadian university campuses, anti-Israel activists have found a diminished appetite and an emboldened pro-Israel student body who are increasingly unwilling to accept BDS resolutions on campus. Despite the incredible funds and resources behind their efforts, anti-Israel activists lost the confidence of the majority of students who voted last week.
Campus Advisor Ariella Daniels has been working closely with pro-Israel student leaders, including Sydney Switzer, a Hasbara Fellow and an executive board member of the “Israel on Campus” student group in Vancouver.
Robert Walker, National Director of Hasbara Fellowships Canada, said:
“This vote is not a surprise. BDS activists are waging a losing war; students, like all Canadians, are, by and large, simply not buying into this malicious misinformation.”
Ariella Daniels, Campus Advisor for Hasbara Fellowships Canada, said:
“This year Israel on Campus created a strategic plan for tabling with us and implemented successful effective table campaigns. It was great to meet with the students and hear and plan how Hasbara Fellowships can help them now and in the future. I look forward to being a close partner for Israel advocacy and Jewish Life on Campus.”
Hasbara Fellowships Canada is also very excited to announce Nathan Downey, who just completed his first year at UBC in Political Science and International Relations, as an upcoming Hasbara Fellows this coming year who will join us on our 17-day Israel training program in August.
