Seeing the bigger picture in Israel’s North

On Tuesday, our August delegation began the day with a powerful briefing on Israel’s ongoing conflicts along its northern borders with Lebanon and Syria.

To better understand the regional dynamics, the Fellows visited the Quneitra Overlook in the Golan Heights—a striking vantage point with a direct view into Syria and the surrounding region.

From there, they traveled to Misgav Am, a kibbutz perched on Israel’s northern border with Lebanon. Just across the fence lies a former Hezbollah stronghold—so close that students could use binoculars to see into homes where rockets were once hidden, aimed directly at Israeli civilians.

On many college campuses, the conflict is framed narrowly as an Israeli-Palestinian issue, casting Israel as the aggressor in a David vs. Goliath narrative. But standing on Israel’s northern border, facing threats from Hezbollah and other hostile actors, our students saw a broader and more complex reality—one the propaganda never tells.

This kind of clarity is critical. These young leaders are returning with firsthand knowledge—and the strength to stand up for Israel with truth, context, and courage.

Together, we will continue to empower our student-leaders to stand up for themselves, their communities, and for the Jewish people.
