Hasbara Fellowships is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to join our team as the next Executive Director for Hasbara Canada. As the driving force behind pro-Israel advocacy on university campuses across Canada, the Executive Director will lead efforts to empower Jewish and pro-Israel student leaders, manage development strategies, and grow sustainable financial resources.

Founded in 2001, the mission of Hasbara Fellowships is to train and empower Jewish and pro-Israel university students to fight antisemitism and defend Israel on their university campuses.
The organization’s flagship program is the 16-day advocacy training program in Israel. Hasbara has trained Jewish and other pro-Israel student leaders on more than 95 university campuses throughout North America.
Graduates of the program – Hasbara Fellows – are required to actively engage in Jewish and pro-Israel leadership activities when they come back from Israel, and they have a proven track record of doing so. Upon completion of the program, Hasbara Fellows also receive ongoing support from our staff and gain access to a wide range of Hasbara resources.
The board of directors of Hasbara Canada and Hasbara International are proud to announce the search for Hasbara’s 3rd Canadian director.
The Hasbara Canada Executive Director will be an inspiring leader and an experienced and strategic manager who is passionate and knowledgeable about Israel and pro-Israel work on college campuses.
The Executive Director will develop and manage a budget of $1M+ while cultivating and stewarding relationships to grow sustainable financial resources, while supervising student recruitment and strategy across Canada’s campuses. He/she will report to the CEO of Hasbara International to grow Hasbara Canada while helping Hasbara International reach its strategic goals.
Responsibilities Include:
- Planning, organizing and managing an annual campaign, while engaging donors in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Vancouver. Developing a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation as well as supporting a lay major gifts team and program.
- Developing outreach strategies to encourage new gifts, as well as increasing current donor contributions at all levels.
- Overseeing donor recognition events and functions.
- Building a pipeline of prospects guided by moves management principles.
- Boosting the engagement of lay leaders within the Development function.
- Assisting Hasbara International with development activities internationally.
- Coordinating with international staff and the CEO on development policies, initiatives, annual development goals, and participation in National programs.
- Working closely with Hasbara International’s team to provide training, education, organization and guidance to Hasbara Fellows and other student leaders
- Coordinating with the international team to run Hasbara student missions to Israel, including delivering educational seminars on the missions to Israel
Qualifications:
- University degree required.
- 5+ years of Development experience including major gifts is required.
- Capable of opening new territories and developing robust donor pipelines.
- Goal-oriented campaign strategist who can create and execute a multi-faceted vision and plan for increased financial resource development results;
- Self-starter who can work independently and collaborate with professional colleagues and volunteer leadership;
- Flexible and creative and strategic thinker able to develop new ways to engage potential and existing donors, create new giving opportunities and programs;
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills;
- Experienced in developing board members and increasing their level of participation in the fundraising process;
- Ability to travel to the US at least twice per year and Israel twice per year, with occasional travel in Canada as well
- Hebrew language skills a plus
- Flexibility with schedule (occasional morning, evening and weekends)
